Public Opinion Survey on Foreign Policy Perceptions in the Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership
October 2025 – In partnership with Newton Research Europe, Indago conducted primary data collection among population in countries from the Western Balkan region and countries from Eastern Partnership. The purpose of the survey was to obtain public opinion on the role and influence of geopolitical actors [EU, USA, Russia, China and Turkey] in the countries covered by the survey. The surveys covered six countries from Western Balkans: Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia and three countries from Eastern Partnership: Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The Population Survey was conducted on at least N=1,000 respondents, aged 18+ in each country, bringing the total to 9,011 respondents.
The report is structured into five thematic chapters: Information, Economy and Migration, EU and NATO, External Actors, and Political Orientation, followed by individual national overviews with general conclusions. It specifically examines the perceptions of five major international actors: the European Union, the United States, Russia, China, and Turkey, measuring trust in each and mapping citizens’ expectations for their countries’ foreign policies. It also investigates attitudes toward EU and NATO membership, migration aspirations, information sources, and domestic political orientations.
